Company description
With more than 200 engineers, technicians, masters and qualified technical specialists in the team, Dr. Hager the business of MainTech Systems.
The high status of the industrial location testifies to a decades-long tradition: The location was founded in 1924 as a production facility for textile viscose yarns of the Vereinigte Glanzstoff-Fabriken AG. In 1938, the production of technical viscose yarns began, which were mainly used as a reinforcing material in the carcass of car tires. In the 1950s, fiber production was expanded to include synthetic yarns such as polyester and polyamide. Since the 70s and 80s of the 20th century, the location has increasingly developed into the most important European production facility for high-quality yarns for technical applications due to the expansion of capacities.
For many decades the location in the Bavarian Lower Main was the largest employer in the region. As a result, the ICO is of central importance for the structural and economic development of the entire area to this day.
In its almost 90-year history, when the parent company changed its name - from Glanzstoff to Enka, Akzo Nobel, Acordis - the name of the location also changed until 2003, when the neutral name “Industrie Center Obernburg” was chosen. The background to the last change was the split up of the previous business areas of the Acordis Group and their separate sale.
The former group branches located in the ICO were converted into legally independent GmbHs. The site operating company of the ICO is "Mainsite GmbH & Co. KG", which offers all the infrastructural services required for a technological production site. In 2010, the technical services of Mainsite GmbH & Co. KG were spun off into the independently operating subsidiary Mainsite Technologies GmbH. Due to its technical competence, this company has developed into an innovative plant construction company as well as a service and maintenance company.
