Like some other Swabian component manufacturers with widely known in Europe, they could also earn a special place in their area. In 1948 Moritz Kurt Juchheim founded the company M. K. Juchheim GmbH in Fulda, and started the production of high-quality glass and glass contact thermometers. The trade name JUMO is derived from the name of the founder (Juchheim, Moritz). The product spectrum was gradually expanded after 1950. In 1985 Bernhard Juchheim, son of the founder, took over general management. The mother company was renamed as JUMO GmbH & Co. KG in June 2003, to match the naming of the international subsidiaries.
