The name BARAT CARBIDE stands for more than sixty years of experience in the development, production, and distribution of hard metals and special tools for high-wear applications. The company's origins can be traced back to the German company Bayer-Müller, Burghaun (1952). Over the past three decades the company experienced high performance thanks to its incorporation into the internationally active corporation Boart Longyear. This lead to extensive diversity in its product offerings and significant expansion of its distribution. A high level of investment has made it one of the most modern hardmetal works in Europe.

BARAT CARBIDE as it exists today was formed in 2006 when the Hardmaterials Group of Boart Longyear was sold to Equita Management GmbH. The new goal: further specialization and concentration on core competencies. Our production and sales facilities in Germany, South Africa, and China and our sales organisations in the United States and the United Kingdom enable us to assess and respond quickly to market needs. Our competence in research and development and our high flexibility in production ensure customer-oriented solutions for special demands.
