Laser cutting, also called laser beam cutting, is divided into fusion cutting, flame cutting and sublimation cutting. Metal sheets made of structural steel, stainless steel or aluminum are the most commonly processed. The thickness of the material depends on the power of the laser. At present, 40 mm of structural steel, 50 mm of stainless steel and 25 mm of aluminum can be processed with a fibre laser. The maximum laser power of a conventional laser cutting machine made by Trumpf, Amada, Bystronic or another manufacturer is currently 8 KW.
