VOP-026 Šternberk, s.p. was established in 1951. The main production programme of the present-day Defence Production Division included repairs of armoured personnel carriers, automobiles and main battle tanks.

The production programme gradually specialized in repairing, refurbishing and upgrading infantry fighting vehicles, armoured personnel carriers, chassis for specialized applications and engineer equipment.
