Established in 1949, the STS Sumperk company manufactured by the last 20 years thousands of agriculture machines. Today STS Sumperk company makes its turnover 90% out of sub-contracting for significant customers like General Electric, Mercedes Bus, Siemens and Tatra. We are exporting more than 80% production to the EU countries. The skilled workers in well-equipped production plants manufacture all products in top quality and just in time. Our commercial and technical staff led a team of 180 professionals.

The foundations of SVUM, a.s. as an institution for research and application of materials and technologies in Prague have been laid in connection with the long tradition of metallurgy and metalworking in the Czech lands and expansion of the Czechoslovak industry, mechanical engineering, especially, after World War II. Already in 1947, the department for materials research has been constituted within former Czechoslovak Metalworking and Machinery Works and of the Research Institute of Heavy Machinery. In 1949, a new research organization occurred and Research Institute for Materials and Technology in Prague has become one of newly beginning institutes. In 1965, the institute was renamed on National Research Institute for Materials (SVUM).
