The Metaalwarenfabriek Latenstein BV was founded in 1947 and has since developed into a specialist in metal forming. The manufacture of stamping, drawing and pressing parts and assemblies is now one of our core business. Our main customers are about 80% of the automotive industry and their suppliers, as well as household appliances and furniture, plumbing and construction industry.



With currently 110 employees, we manufacture parts according to drawings or specifications to approximately 11,000 square meters of production area. Our production facilities, in addition to the deformation on mechanical and hydraulic presses with progressive or transfer dies to a force of 630 tons, also include the component manufacturing such as welding, riveting, assembling and surface coatings. We also specialize in metal-plastic composites. The materials we process all common types of steel as well as non-ferrous materials up to a thickness of 8 mm from coil or sheet material.

Our production

In this department the tools produced are mounted on eccentric presses from 10-100 tons, equipped with CNC feeds.
We process tapes in various materials, steel and nonferrous metals with thickness from 0.20 to 3.0 mm, and a maximum width of 300 mm.

As a family business, Metalldesign Schmitt deals in the broadest sense with the treatment and processing of metals of all kinds. The focus of our work is the construction and assembly of stair and balcony railings through to larger steel structures for industrial applications. We are suppliers to both industrial and private clients, but thanks to our modern machinery we can also provide various contract work services for other metalworking companies. Our company Metalldesign Schmitt was founded in 2010 and is based in the restored ensemble of the former Saarbrücken-Burbach railway repair shop, which has been prepared for all kinds of businesses. With few exceptions, the well-preserved buildings date from the time when the factory was founded (1857) and thus contribute to the unmistakable character of the location.
